The Station | Official Trailer
In 1977, a secret Cold War listening station in the hills of Pennsylvania heard something in the sky. Then it was sealed, with a warning painted on the door: Do not listen. Nearly fifty years later, four friends break in and press play on the tape that was left behind. What they hear spreads from a small-town radio station to every speaker on Earth.
The Station is a six-part Midnight Signals story, told in the show's documentary style.
All six chapters release together on October 31.
A Midnight Signals Story. A work of fiction.
Midnight Signals blends history, folklore, and dramatized storytelling. Some names, places, and events are fictionalized or illustrative. Characters are fictional, and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is coincidental.
0:00 [mysterious music] In the summer of nineteen seventy-seven, a secret listening station in the hills of Pennsylvania heard something coming from the sky. Within weeks, the men who listened to it had gone quiet. The station was sealed, and someone painted a warning on the door in red, "Do not listen." This is Midnight Signals. Nearly fifty years later, four friends broke the door down. Inside, a reel of tape was waiting for them, threaded and ready, as if someone had wanted it to be found. One of them pressed play. On the drive home, he would not stop humming.
0:40 By the end of the week, the whole town was humming. And by the end of the summer, the sound was in every phone, every radio, every speaker on Earth. The people who heard it were calm and gentle and happy, and they asked the people who loved them, very softly, to listen too. The survivors learned to live in silence. They learned to speak with their hands. And one young woman learned the truth about what had been calling to us from the dark and why it wanted us to answer. Midnight Signals presents a story in six parts, The Station, all six chapters, October thirty-first. I'm Russ Chamberlain, and in every silence there is a signal. [mysterious music]
